Practical AI

Two free courses that teach AI through one realistic task: turning a messy field note into a clear report that someone can act on. Choose the track that fits you.

Every class works on this task. In AI Literacy you use AI to do it well and check the result. In AI Engineering you build the system that does it. All names and figures are fictional.

AI Literacy

For anyone who uses AI at work. No coding. Learn how AI works, how to brief it, how to check what it tells you, and how to use it safely.

  1. What AI is
  2. How chatbots work
  3. Prompting well
  4. Giving AI the right information
  5. AI at work
  6. Checking AI
  7. Agents and automation
  8. Safe and responsible AI

AI Engineering

For people who write Python. Go from computational thinking to an evaluated, secured multi-agent system, with a tested lab in every class.

  1. Pre-work: setup
  2. Foundations: thinking and models
  3. Prompting and structured outputs
  4. Building with code
  5. Context engineering and RAG
  6. Harness and tools
  7. Agents and orchestration
  8. Evals and observability
  9. Security and production

Each class takes about three hours with a facilitator, or longer on your own. Every class ends with a quiz that explains each answer, and Mark class complete saves your progress in this browser. New words are in the glossary; the AI map shows how all the pieces fit together. The whole site also works offline.
